Kellee Elizabeth Warren

Kellee Elizabeth Warren is Assistant Professor and Special Collections Librarian at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). In her current role, she manages public services and rare books. Kellee was a singer/songwriter for over 20 years, and practiced clinical massage therapy for 7 years. She seeks to bring her experience as a creative into her practice as a Special Collections librarian. She received a Master’s in Library and Information Science (MLIS) in 2015 from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a focus on rare books and special collections, archives, and digital preservation.

Kellee recently co-organized the conference Different Archives, Different Histories in cooperation with University of Illinois Chicago’s Institute for the Humanities. In 2016, her first scholarly article was published in Library Trends on the connection between enslaved Black women in the French Antilles and contemporary Black women in the archival science profession. Her forthcoming article “Reimagining Instruction in Special Collections: The Special Case of Haiti” will be published in the fall/winter edition of The American Archivist. Kellee’s research interests include, critical pedagogies in Special Collections instruction, digital humanities, and oral history.
